We always want to know how to make things easier, right? Whether it’s a project for school, storage, cooking, and so many others, we always want to know the best hacks. Today, I’m sharing 10 hacks that will help make the holiday season more enjoyable.
1. Buy Wrapping Supplies on December 26th
How much money do you spend on wrapping paper, gift bags, and tags each year? Instead of buying these items at the end of November, start stocking up for next year on December 26th. Gift bags are so expensive, but they can be very convenient to use for your wrapping. I’ve gotten bags for a dime each when I shop between Christmas and New Years.
2. Festive Breakfast
On Christmas Day, if you’re making pancakes, use large cookie cutters to make holiday shapes. This works no matter what size pancakes you’re making.
3. Make Your Tree Even Brighter
Add mirrors to your tree to reflect the lights. The reflections will make the lights seem brighter and more sparkly. If you’re just starting to build up your ornament selection, this is also a great way to fill up the tree without spending a ton of money.
Take small mirrors (not affiliated) and simple glue an ornament hook to them. Add them to your tree and you’re done!
4. Gingerbread Chaos
If your family makes making gingerbread houses a yearly activity, keep things more organized by doing your construction on a cookie sheet. The edges will help keep candy off the floor, where family pets can eat it. And, you can also use muffin tins to put out some of the decoration candy instead of giving too much all at once.

5. Open Early
Instead of struggling with hard to open toys or other items, do some pre-opening before you wrap your gifts. If you have kids, this is especially helpful since they’ll be able to immediately start playing instead of nagging you while you’re trying to enjoy your morning coffee. This is such a simple idea, but would absolutely help to make your holiday more enjoyable and less stressful.
6. Remember Your Gift Cards
Are you like me and always forget about your gift cards? Even when I go to a store because I have a gift card I usually forget about it. First, keep all those cards in your wallet or purse at all times. Then, simply set a ‘remind me at location’ reminder on your phone to use your cards.
7. House Construction
Here’s another gingerbread house hack: use a large goldfish box or other large container to help form your house. This works great for younger kids that may get frustrated (keep those tantrums at bay!).
8. Skip the Gift Tags
Instead of using traditional gift tags or stickers, use photos! This would be especially funny for a white elephant gift exchange. Everyone use the most funny photo of the person they have a gift for, and I’m sure there’d be quite a collection of awkward photos!

9. Wrapping Paper Scraps
Use a large box and your wrapping paper scraps to create a place for the trash when you’re opening gifts on Christmas morning. You can also have the kids decorate the box for next year if you’re in need of a quick activity on Christmas day.
10. Organize the Gifts
Use one design of wrapping paper for each kid or family member. It will make it much easier for everyone to pass out gifts, especially if opening gifts tends to be a free-for-all.
