Carly and Beck’s story is the final book in the Bayside Heroes Series, which released last December. For this post, I read my first book by author Tia Louise, and I can’t wait to read more.
While Tangled Up isn’t my favorite book in the series, I still really enjoyed this second-chance romance book. And, it got my 2022 year of reading off to a great start.

Initial Thoughts
When I began reading Tangled Up, I wasn’t all that thrilled when I realized that it would not take place in Tampa. After reading 3 other books, I’d become attached to the other members of the friend group. But, they are very much present in this book, just like Beck and Carly make appearances in the others. So don’t let the plot relocation deter you – it only enhances the story.
From the moment she arrives back in Eden, Carly jumps back into small-town life. The town is full of whimsical characters, right down to the little old ladies who gossip at the hair salon each week. You definitely get a close-knit, small-town vibe throughout the book, which made the suspense aspect of the story stronger. It’s hard to imagine someone could arrive in town unnoticed, and yet it happens.
Beck and Carly had already made appearances in 3 books. So you get to know them a little bit prior to reading Tangled Up. Beck asks his friends for advice multiple times in the other books, and while it never directly says what his secret is (in the other books), my guess was pretty close. If you read this book, tell me – did you guess correctly?
Final Thoughts on Tangled Up by Tia Louise
Overall, Tangled Up, is a great end to a great series. If I had one complaint, I would say that plot with Alize did feel like it was a tad long during the climax of the book (boom, brining back my 6th grade terms!). But, I did think it was essential for there to be some sort of resolution to that storyline. If that was left unresolved, I wouldn’t rate the book as high as I do. You give some, you lose some.
Personally, I find second-chance romance stories to be very hit or miss. For me, Tangled Up had a great balance between hashing out the past and moving forward into a real future. Especially when it came to admitting that outside forces influenced the actions that led to Beck ‘ghosting’ Carly years prior.
Perhaps I have such a high opinion of Tangled Up because of one of the very last lines in the book. When I read it, it felt as if it was written for me personally. It came at the perfect time. Maybe that’s cheesy to say, but what can I tell you? I live for that stuff.
It just goes to show you should never stop, never give up, never think life is set in stone. It’s when you think you know what’s going to happen, everything flips, and you find something even better is waiting. It’s the best sort of tangled, and these knots will never be undone. They only grow stronger as we pull them tighter, strengthened with the love we have, never to part again.

One final thought – I would absolutely buy the fireman calendar if it was made for 2023. Anyone else? Can we make that happen please? Except maybe make it the 4 heroes, not 12 fireman. Not that I’d really complain either way. 😉 (sorry, Dad!)
