Happy release day to K.K. Allen! Her newest book, Weight of Regret, is out now for purchase on Amazon and Kindle Unlimited. This is the second book I’ve read from K.K. Allen, and I can’t wait to read more.
Initial Thoughts
The past month has been such a blur. Honestly, I barely know what day it is anymore, so I can’t really remember the exact moment I signed up to review an ARC of this book. But, once I learned more a few weeks ago, I was immediately obsessed- and I hadn’t even gotten my copy of it.
Obviously this is a very specific to me thing, but when I found out that Weight of Regret took place in Orcas Island, I got so excited. Parts of the story take place in Seattle, where I just moved. And, when I visited my friend here last fall, we visited Orcas Island. That tiny bit of information made me really love using this book to take breaks from unpacking and organizing my new life here.
Besides the perfection of the setting, the unrequited love story gives so much angst, but in the best way. The quote from the excerpt about unrequited love is the perfect example of the longing and wishful thinking you will feel reading this from page 1.

Final Thoughts on Weight of Regret
I really enjoyed reading Weight of Regret. Hope and Anderson’s story pulled me in from the very beginning. Learning more about the characters’ backstories, especially Anderson’s, kept me reading. I want to know more about the Bexley family. The book has definitely left me craving more. Lucky for me, Moments in Time, will be releasing in June and will tell Jamison’s story.
In addition to making me want more details about the Bexley family, Weight of Regret ends on a bit of a cliffhanger. It could absolutely have been more of a dramatic one, but the story does end abruptly. So, if cliffhangers aren’t your thing, you may want to wait to read it. It doesn’t impact the love story in any way. It just makes me ready for the next book.
Overall, if you’re looking for a second chance, unrequited love story, you’ll get all of that with Weight of Regret. Because the only other book I’ve read from K.K. Allen is Fired Up, it is hard not to compare the two. I will say that I enjoyed Fired Up, more, but they are very different books, and I recommend them both.
So, will you be picking up Weight of Regret? Are you looking forward to reading the other Bexley boys’ stories?
