Initial Thoughts
Something Like Hate is an enemies-to-lovers workplace romance. After introducing herself at a wedding, a tension-filled conversation that ends with giving him the finger, Vannah cannot stand Landon Winters. After a long dry spell, Vannah begins to think he cursed her. But, when Landon becomes her newest client- and the ticket to a big promotion- she decides to get even.
As soon as I heard the basic outline of the book, I was excited for its release. I have no problem admitting that I love pretty much all happily ever after stories. But, when the couple begins as sworn enemies, I’m even more interested. Enemies-to-lovers situations are kind of a weakness for me. After all, the line between love and hate is very thin.
When I began reading, I didn’t know what to expect. But, within minutes I was laughing out loud. The initial meeting of Vannah and Landon was so… intense. Landon isn’t used to anyone challenging him, but Vannah’s quick wit and determination to wear him down are impossible to ignore.
Their relationship goes from 0 to 60 immediately. They go from strangers to hating each other so rapidly you could get whiplash. If anything is an example of ‘well that escalated quickly,’ it’s their relationship. And when they become romantically involved and not just business partners, they dive in head first. It’s all or nothing with them, and I love it.

My Final Verdict on Something Like Hate
One of my favorites things about reading Harloe Rae’s books is that all of the characters and their stories are connected. When I read Keeper, I got to see how Sutton and Grady from Breaker are doing.
In Something Like Hate, we get to see one of Audria’s friends (Leave Him Loved). There’s even mention of Audria’s permanent move to the country. Brance, from Ask Me Why, is another character featured in this story, and it made me even more excited to read that story, just as the bonus epilogue in Breaker did when they introduced me to Baelyn and her store, Thicket. (If any of that sounds confusing to you, I promise, it’s not. It makes the stories so much more enjoyable)
In case you haven’t already figured it out, I love this book. It exceeded my expectations in every possible way, and not once did I think that it was getting repetitive or boring.
I always have an internal ranking for things in my head. This could be for anything- food, movies, makeup- literally anything. So where does Something Like Hate fall in my ranking? This book is a very very close second place. Breaker is still my #1. Out of the four books by Harloe Rae that I have read, there’s just something about these characters that was so relatable. Maybe it’s Vannah’s need to keep her ‘boss bitch face’ on at all times, or Landon’s inability to open up to people that felt so real to me.

Something Like Hate is now available for purchase on Amazon and is available with Kindle Unlimited. I highly recommend checking out this book and Harloe Rae’s other books.
