Today, 2/24 is my dog Rosie’s 10th birthday! For whatever reason, I felt the need to celebrate her birthday this year. I’m not really sure why, maybe because she ‘finally’ hits double digits? Either way, this morning I found myself making Rosie some cupcakes, aka “Pupcakes.” You can find the recipe here.

Baking the Pupcakes
Overall, the pupcakes (cupcakes for dogs) were really easy to make. And, the recipe has a slider tool that allows you to pick the amount of servings you want to make. This may be nothing new, but I appreciated it because I was able to adjust it so that I used 1 egg.
The recipe includes frosting, that you make with potatoes. However, Rosie is a few pounds overweight and is on a special diet to prevent bladder stones. So while she has made a lot of progress over the past few months (all while recovering from knee surgery) I didn’t want to push it.

Taste Time!
When I took the pupcakes out of the oven, Rosie got so excited by the smell. I admit, I tasted the batter and it wasn’t bad. I think the best comparison I can say would be a super healthy whole grain, whole wheat, blah blah blah sandwich bread. The texture was what I focused on more than the taste. And even though I don’t have the beagle nose like Rosie, I think they smell good. (If I taste them tomorrow, I’ll add an update in! Still not sure if I want to do that!)
Rosie was so excited to eat finally eat them, I couldn’t get her to sit long enough for me to take a picture. But I did get some cute and some funny pics while she was chowing down. Oliver also loved them. I don’t think he even chewed.

Happy Birthday Rosie!
So all in all, I would say these cupcakes are a winner. If you have a dog birthday to celebrate, these are a great way to celebrate. If you make them, let me know in the comments below! Or, take a look at these biscuits that I made for Oliver’s birthday.

Aw, Rosie says ‘thank you!’ I never had pets growing up, but now that I’ve had dogs, I don’t know that I could ever go back to not having any. Definitely try it! If you’re unsure, you could try fostering or pet-sitting for someone to see how a pet would fit in your life. Thanks so much for reading!
OMG I’ve always wanted to bake cakes for my little pup (or she’s 8 years old now, but let’s pretend she’s a pup), so thanks so much for these!

Thank you so much! She absolutely loved her birthday and she’s still loving the rest of the batch. 🙂
It is such a sweet thing to do – celebrating your little dog’s birthday. Unlucky for me, I have never been a mother to a dog although I’ve always wanted to own one. It feels beautiful to see the pictures from your dog’s birthday and filled me with some sense of immense positivity today. Thank you for that ^_^. Happy 10th birthday to the little doggy!!
Aw, thank you so much! I’m so glad I was able to give you some positive energy today! I hope one day you get to be a dog mom- it’s the best!
