I’m by no means a ‘fashion’ person. I hate shopping with a passion unless it’s for makeup/beauty items or home items. Put me in a mall and tell me I need to buy clothes? I’m instantly miserable. I just hate it. Sure, a lot of it comes from my own insecurities about how I look, but looking at new trends doesn’t entertain me in any way. And, I hate spending money on clothes.
Even if I have an important event, I put it off until the last minute. To paint you a picture, I finally settled on a dress for my brother’s wedding the weekend before. And that was even a dress that my Dad picked out for me (which he was quite proud of). It’s not that I don’t care about looking nice, they’re just so many better ways to spend my time.
But every once in a while I get the urge to find new clothes. Usually nicer clothes that I have no reason to buy and no where to where them. And then the price tags usually remind me why I don’t like spending money on clothes. Recently, I went down the rabbit hole of sparkly dresses for cocktail parties, so today, I’m sharing 10 little black dresses that I think would be perfect for any holiday or New Year’s Eve party.
I love the belt/tie and the details on this dress. Even though the ruffles on the sleeves aren’t my favorite look, I still think this dress is a solid 9/10.
Another semi-vintage look. While I do like this one, if I was choosing for myself I would pick the one above with the different neckline. This is the type of dress I’d love until I put it on.
This conservative look is very ‘Kate Middleton’ to me. So, obviously it’s a 10/10, would absolutely wear it even if it isn’t a super festive look. And with this dress you could wear to a lot of different types of events so you’d get more use out of it overall.
This dress reminds me of a dress I had in high school for a Homecoming dance. All sequins and so fun!
This reminds me of a ballet costume I once had. Either way, the longer skirt on this one would make up for the awkwardness I’d personally feel if I had something that low cut on.
I love this twist on a one-shoulder look. I think this would be more comfortable and more secure. You don’t want to me adjusting your clothes all night!
And finally, there’s nothing wrong with a super simple, basic dress. Especially if you already have one in your closet. Make it ‘fancy’ with accessories instead!
So, what do you think of my little black dress picks? Which one is your favorite? Do you like shopping for clothes? Let me know in the comments!
