What tv shows do you consider binge-worthy? Summer is about to officially begin, and if you’re like me, that means you’re adding shows to your Netflix queue like crazy. (Yes, I still call it the queue- it’s a much better name.) I just hate the heat, so I dread summer every year. Last year, summer wasn’t so bad, especially since I had been laid off and didn’t have to leave the house most days.
But what do you do with all of that time? If you’re me, you dive into a show or two and it takes over a large portion of your life. Can anyone else relate? What shows are you planning on watching? With so many services like Netflix, Hulu, and Prime Video on top of major network shows, there are endless options. But, if you don’t know where to start, I’ve got some suggestions for you- and no, The Office and Friends are not on this list, though they are great shows.

Arrow (CW)
If you told me 10 years ago that I would fall in love with a show about a comic book character, I would’ve laughed at you. But, one day my brother got me to watch Arrow, and I was hooked. I don’t know what it is about this show, but by the time The Flash was released, I had deteriorated into a full blown obsession- I even named my dog after the main character.
But, I have not watched the ending of the show. When season 6 ended and Oliver was put in prison, I didn’t want to watch. My plan was to watch once he was released, and be able to watch the crossover episodes live. But, life (aka depression and work) got in the way. And now, watching the end feels like it will really remind me that the show is over. Yes, I know being this upset about a show is ridiculous. But, when you’re feeling depressed and hate your own life, any escape is an amazing one.
Every summer, I rewatch the entire show. This summer, I will be watching it, and finishing all of it. I’m looking forward to it, but at the same time, I’m dreading it. I may insist my best friend, who hasn’t finished the show either, watch it with me. (So… surprise Megan! Want to watch it with me???) If you’ve never seen Arrow, give it a try! It is at the top of my binge-worthy tv shows list for a reason.

Legends of Tomorrow (CW)
Legends of Tomorrow is hilarious. The show’s first season is drastically different from the rest of the show, but it is still enjoyable. In the second season, it becomes more of a parody style show, and doesn’t take itself to seriously, and constantly adds twists to historical moments.
Do you like George Lucas? Well, the team has to convince him to stay in film school and end up in a trash compactor, just like in Star Wars. Or what about when they have to save Apollo 13? Or protect George Washington so that he can cross the Delaware River? (In case you haven’t figured it out, I REALLY like season 2.)
If you liked Sara Lance on Arrow, this show features her along with a ton of other characters. The cast has evolved so much over the years which I surprisingly like. They do it in a great way, and older characters are still mentioned constantly, and often have guest appearances. If you’re a fan of Prison Break, you’ll also get to see the iconic duo Wentworth Miller and Dominic Purcell together again. This time, they play Mick Rory/Heat-Wave and Leonard Snart/Captain Cold.

Scorpion (CBS)
I am still not over the cancellation of this binge-worthy tv show. And what’s worse, is that there is very difficult to find. It feels as if CBS wanted to wipe the show from existence. When you search for it on their website, it brings no results. However, it is available on Netflix in the U.K. So, if you live across the pond, then take advantage of the availability of the show. If you don’t, well… find a creator you like that has a sponsorship with a VPN, and give them a little support. (I know I did!)
Scorpion was not one of the more popular shows, but it’s fan base was very close-knit and very dedicated. If you follow my main tumblr, you’ll see I post a lot about Scorpion. There are so many aspects of the show, that I was struggling to figure out how to sum it up. So I asked my best friend who gave me the perfect answer. She described Scorpion as a “found family” dynamic. There’s lots of “faulty high stakes science, with puns galore. And of course, a ferret named Ferret Bueller.
Now, you may think about the ‘faulty’ science or even in the clip above, the plane crashing into the control tower as ridiculous. But, suspend your disbelief. It’s a show, not a true story. If we can believe that Hogwarts, Mordor, The Hunger Games, and so many others exist, why can’t we believe that shoving dry ice into a tornado will make it less powerful?
Did I mention this is another show I have not watched the ending of? It ended to abruptly, and on a huge cliffhanger, so I consider myself lucky that I was busy at work and missed the last few episodes. To learn more about some of the characters and more about why I love this show, check out my Popular Characters With Mental Health Issues post.

Sense8 (Netflix)
How do I even begin to talk about Sense8? This show was a Netflix original, but because of an insane budget (1 episode cost about $9 million), the show was cancelled in May 2017 – right after the second season was released. But, fans went insane and the show was was given a proper ending. A movie was developed and released on Netflix in June of 2018.
If you’re looking for a show that is unlike any other, Sense8 is the one for you. It’s got a bit of something for everyone. But, I’ve got two tips for you. First, don’t watch it with children or parents around. The second time I watched the show, I was on a plane to California, sitting in between both of my parents. The amount of times I had to attempt to hide the screen of my ipad is unreal. Just trust me, ok?
Second, Sense8 is a pretty fast paced show. So many things happen very quickly, but, you also have 8 people living through and interacting in one event. There’s even a few times when they’ll abruptly switch languages. Picture this- I’m watching it on our ‘big tv’ at home, and my Dad walks in, and says “What language is this? It’s like they’re speaking Swahili.” Well, that’s because they were. Watch the trailer below, and you’ll see a tiny bit of what I’m talking about.
While Sense8 is definitely a show that will appeal to a very specific audience, it will always be one of my list of binge-worthy tv shows.

The Crazy Ones (CBS)
Imagine watching The Office starring Robin Williams. Sounds great, right? Well, that’s very close to what The Crazy Ones is. This Crazy Ones was cancelled a few months prior to Robin Williams’ death. It’s hard to imagine the kind of pain he was in while working on this show. I absolutely love it, and would have gladly watched it for years. Before I watched it, I thought seeing Sarah Michelle Gellar in a comedy role would be strange. But, it really does feel natural. It feels as if the sarcastic side of Buffy’s character helped her expand her acting chops.
The Crazy Ones takes place in Chicago at an advertising agency run by Williams’, Gellar, and Brad Garrett. But, it’s got a ton of big named guest stars. One of my personal favorites is when Josh Groban guest stars and has an argument with Brad Paisley. His imitation of country music is pure gold.

As of righting this, the only way to The Crazy Ones is through purchasing it. You can find it on Prime Video, YouTube, and a few other places. To see the full list, head here.

Arrow is amazing! Thanks for reading! xx
Oh wow! The first list that I’ve seen is that I don’t know any of the shows! I think Arrow is filmed in Vancouver which is a 30-minute drive from me! I love Sarah Michelle Gellar so I’ll put The Crazy Ones on my list! x

Yup, all of the Arrowverse shows are filmed in Vancouver. The Crazy Ones is amazing, so I hope you watch it!
I’ve thought about watching Scorpion a few times but I’m definitely putting it on my list of TV shows to watch now. I also really enjoyed Arrow but I got sidetracked and haven’t watched all of the seasons yet. I honestly think I would have to watch it from the beginning again because there’s a lot I can’t remember. 🙂
Yay! I’m glad I could convince someone to watch those shows! It took me a few episodes to get into Scorpion, but once I did, I was obsessed. I really became invested in it when I was sick with the flu a few years ago and would watch the same episode multiple times a day. Thanks so much for reading and commenting!!! ♥️
My fiance loves Arrow – that’s one of his go to binge shows, not much for me though. Sense8 I’ve been intrigued by and recommended by a few friends so might actually give that a try! Thanks for sharing.
Definitely watch Sense8! It’s a very unique concept, but so worth it! Thanks for reading!
I haven’t seen any of these before – but The Crazy One’s looks amazing!! I’ll have to see if it’s streaming anywhere and if it is, I’ll definitely check it out!
I highly recommend it! As far as I know, it is only available for purchase. It has been added and removed from Netflix multiple times over the past few years. Or maybe you can find it on YouTube. Thanks for reading!
