If you were a fan of Lindsay Lohan in the early 2000s, you may have already heard about her new Christmas movie on Netflix, “Falling for Christmas.” Also starring Chord Overstreet (Glee), this movie was exactly what I expected – full of sappy holiday-romance moments with lots of comedy.
Lindsay Lohan plays Sierra, a hotel heiress that is a mix of London Tipton from The Suite Life of Zach and Cody, and Lola, Lohan’s character from Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen. Sierra is spoiled and can’t do anything for herself. But, unlike other characters in similar positions, she has no problem admitting it, which was refreshing.
The storyline itself isn’t anything unique or revolutionary. But you don’t watch this kind of movie for an intriguing plot. You watch it for some holiday enjoyment and a happily ever after, much like a lot of the books I’ve reviewed here.

At the beginning of “Falling for Christmas,” I began to question if Lindsay Lohan was ever actually a good actress. Do I love Parent Trap because of her acting abilities or because of the story? Same goes for Mean Girls, which is the other movie she’s most well known for. Because my original interest in the movie wouldn’t have existed if her name hadn’t been on the ad.
The acting isn’t stellar, but it could be worse. For someone who hasn’t done a big movie in years, she did fine, and it got better as the movie progressed. In fact, I was focused on judging her abilities so much that I didn’t really notice anything amazing or horrible with Chord Overstreet’s. Which isn’t necessarily fair to either of them. But, I can absolutely see both of them working on similar feel-good holiday movies in the future.
Overall, Netflix’s new holiday movie “Falling for Christmas,” earns a solid 7 out of 10 from me. Have you watched the latest Lindsay Lohan movie yet? What did you think? Let me know in the comments!
